How Nestalbum works: a private family photo album

25 October 2026 · 5 min read

Nestalbum is a private photo album for your family. Photos and videos are encrypted on your phone before they're shared, so only the people you invite can see them. No social media, no ads, no strangers. Nestalbum is launching soon. Here's how it will work, step by step.

Step 1: Add photos

Pick the photos and videos you want to share. Nestalbum never needs access to your whole photo library, and your photos stay at full quality, with no compression.

Step 2: Invite your family

Send a private invitation to grandparents, aunts, uncles and close friends. Only the people you invite can join, and joining takes one tap. Family members never see each other's email addresses.

Step 3: Enjoy together

Everyone sees a timeline sorted by date and by your child's age, and can leave a comment or a heart. There are no like counters and no feed. Have several children? Give each one their own album, shared with the right people.

How the encryption works

Every photo and video is encrypted with AES-256 on your phone before it's uploaded. Each family member's device gets its own key when they join, so only your family's devices can open the photos, and Nestalbum's servers only ever store scrambled data. Remove someone, and they lose access to new photos. Because Nestalbum can't see your photos, it can't scan them, sell them or train AI on them.
